A young man of 13 whose entire life changes when his mother is the victim of a brutal hate crime. For Joe it is a coming of age that could change the course of his life.
Pi tells an incredible story of life, survival and the human spirit.
I am currently addicted to Louise Erdrich. The way she writes speaks to me. The tale of Irene, wife and muse, and of her artist/painter husband Gil begins with a a fragmented diary. Alcohol, abuse, a family in peril.
The protagonist, Astrid, begins her tale as the only child of a single parent. Her Mother, Ingrid, is poet whose lifestyle and life decisions make for a dark and twisted path. As Astrid learns to navigate the choppy waters of her Mother's wake she is thrust from life lesson to life lesson.
I must say that I enjoyed Mitch Albom's storytelling. While an easy read it was thought provoking and filled with full rich characters.
