Get a Job 101 for Teens

Looking for that first job? Get inspired by keynote speakers from Michigan Works and the AADL Human Resources Department. Then attend breakout sessions and pick up tips on completing applications, putting together a resume, and acing the interview.

Learn about creating your own job/business from the Business Side of Youth. Work alternatives? Teens from Youth Empowerment Project will talk about volunteering opportunities and how it can improve your chances of employment.

This program is for teens in grades 9-12.

Small Business Administration Lending Roundtable

Are you trying to expand, purchase, or start a business and need financing? Do you want to learn how a lender analyzes your loan request and what they look for in a credit application? Would you like to ask all of your financing-related questions at one time, in one place?

If so, the SBA Lending Roundtable session is for you! The roundtable is comprised of a banker, an SBA loan officer, a business consultant, and you. Here you will have the opportunity to meet business counselors who can help you prepare your loan request for the bank. This session for those with good credit, some money to invest in their business and who know how much they need to borrow.

The session will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Washtenaw Community College Morris Lawrence Building. Michigan Virtual Information Technology Career Fair

The State of Michigan will host the first state-sponsored virtual career fair on February 15 from 10 am to 4 pm to connect talented IT and high tech professionals with employers. MiVirtualCareerFair: IT and High Tech will provide a platform for Michigan businesses to interact with and recruit highly-skilled job seekers from anywhere in the world within a live, 3-D virtual environment. The fair follows the December 2011 launch of Pure Michigan Talent Connect, an online talent marketplace bringing together thousands of jobs, unique career calculators and resources for employers seeking talent. Job seekers can register to attend and view informational videos at the MiVirtualCareerFair website.
