When are the results going to be posted. You know if a health inspector came to the axis tourtaments thier first reaction would be very negative snack food greasy food and viedo games for five hours. Then they would look at the crowd and have a different reaction. i think that these tourtaments break some sterotypes because most of us are somewhat in shape and some of us have social lives. i think MaCdonalds and viedo games makes one healthy in the stomach and the thumbs.

I don't know why I like turtles so much, but I have hundreds of them in my house.

Nintendo is on the right track with the hot spots at McDonalds. They are finally starting to realize that their fans will go away if nintendo doesn't give them anything.

This is my first post from a school computer; I'm glad you could all be here for this momentous occasion.
It is my belief that each of us should post a controversial topic for discussion on this forum; otherwise, as Sravan has mentioned, it is unlikely that it shall be utilised to its full potential. For the time being, I shall continue to respect the popular ban on politics, but I shall make an attempt at refuting the logic behind it when next I have little homework; as of this moment, that time seems to be a vague and undefined spot on the horizon, visible only with a telescope. Thus, I will ask this question (first posed, in my hearing, at Band Camp): In a fight between pirates and ninjas, who would win? (My cabin then proceeded, over the next two hours, to have a heated and, at times, vitriolic debate.) Have fun!

Pickwick, with the class load that you are taking, and it being your Junior year, a homework-free time when you are not sleeping eating, using the restroom, or at an AADL-GT tournament will not exits until sometime during the first few weeks of summer. Even though you will have no homework, your brain will still be wired into doing something school related at that time, so you will sit there in your room with nothing to do, shivering with nervous energy trying to figure out what you should be doing right then. But after a few weeks of that, you realize that the idea of homework won't really show up for another two months or so, and then you settle down into a Summertime routine. (Which, I've found, you get used to right as school starts again.)

I believe that ninjas would win, because of their superior stealth abilities. And they have katanas, which can cut through the pirates' swords in an instant. Plus, ninjas have throwing stars, which could be used to take out the those annoying talking parrots. CURSE YOU TALKING PARROTS!!!!!!!

ninjas. they are sneaky and will stab the pirate in the back. katanas are so fun to use in GTA vice city, they are my favorite melee weapon(other then the chain saw) cuz u can sprint with them.

Thanks to those who responded; I will now enunciate the parameters for the situation, as established through a lengthy line of questioning at Band Camp. The pirates and ninjas are represented in roughly equal genders, races, heights, and hair colour, though the ninjas' heads are concealed behind a mask; the two groups are assembled on a completely flat, grassy field in the middle of nowhere (measured precisely to the fourth decimal of an inch); the ninjas are each equipped with four shurikens, each of which may be thrown at a speed of approximately twenty miles per hour, for a total distance of sixty feet(I must confess to having forgotten the angle at which they would have to have been thrown), and they throw them with perfect accuracy at a rate of one per three seconds, while the pirates favour muskets, which have a twenty-second reload time but are more likely(75%, as opposed to 60%) to inflict fatal wounds. They are also in possession of shoulder-mounted parrots, which fly at an angle of 45 degrees until they reach a height of 50 feet, from which point they dive at the nearest cloaked figure, temporarily distracting, or even incapacitating, them. At the risk of mentioning politics, I should mention that it has been established, by the moderator of the Band Camp debate to which I have referred, that the pirates are Republicans, while the ninjas are strongly suspected of harbouring sympathies with the Green Party.
While we discussed many other details that could be relevant in the forming of a conclusion, I cannot, at present, locate the list I have. Also, I would like to restate an earlier appeal I had made, which was that all here present would forward any philosophical, elemental, or logical questions they wished others to attempt to answer. This thread is, after all, open, and there is little official business to be discussed, aside from the fact that I liked the leaderboard more with the Friday Tournament scores than without.

While it is true that I do use the English system of measurement, He-who-once-was-BCL, I generally restrain myself to the more common conversions; furlongs, kilderkins, drams, and their ilk exist (in the modern world) merely to amuse. Did you mean to refer to fluid or apothecarian drams?

It should be mentioned, with regard to the intellectually weighty question of p vs n, that there are numerous important factors which I have overlooked as of the present time; perhaps I shall eventually locate my notes from the original occasion at which this was discussed. The purpose of my bringing the topic up in the first place was to encourage the introduction of perplexing, thought-provoking, mind-bending abstract or practical questions, and the concurrent discussion of all, rather than the focus on the rather silly, but, admittedly, timely and relevant, question posed by myself.

while we are at it we should do math problems on the blog lol. nothing too complex high schoolers. i'll start us off. this one is hard btw

there is a dart board consisting of 2 areas one bull's eye and the outer area. the bull's eye is worth 15 points and the outer area is worth 7 points. if u throw a dart at the bull's eye you get 15 points and same with the outer but u get 7 points.
if INFINATE darts are thrown at the board what is the largest FINITE score you can acheive. finite meaning non-infinity. for example u can not achieve 6 because the lowest number you can acheive is 7. niether u can recieve 8,9,10,11 but u can get 14 cuz 2 darts thrown at the 7 is 14. so whats the largest u can't get?

yea it took me and my class 45 minutes but i looked in the answer book before so i knew what it was ;)

o yea as eli said pirates are bad on land and if the ninja weapons hit their eyes they would have no eyes left cuz of their eye patch and the injas will win.

it gave an explination but i didn't understand it. like there is a formula. i'll give the answer out when other ppl have tried it. here is an easier one.

the pistons are beating the spurs(i wish) 3-2 in the final round of the playoffs in best out of 7. if the probability of the pistons beating the spurs is 3/5 or 60% then what is the probability of the spurs winning the playoffs?

and another

there is a fishtank with 200 fish where 99% are guppies. how many fish need to be taken away to make it 98% guppies?

come on your second question is an insult 200 fish 99% guppies that means 198 are guppies. If the guppies taken out of the tank are replaced then all you need to do is remove 2 guppies, and replace those two guppies with other fish.

Due to the poor wording of your question i assume that you are not aware of the fact that if you take 2 guppies away there will no longer be 200 fish...it would be less since you took fish out In that case you cannot break 98% exactly a close estimation would again be 2 guppies. due to rounding, because you cannot have a fraction of a guppie, in the context of the problem.

anti snowman u are wrong on all questions. the answer is 83 cuz 15x7-15-7 some weird formula. in the guppy one there are 198 guppies out of the 200 fish so if u take away 100 guppies then there will be 98/100 which is 98%. my wording is fine btw. the pistons one is 4/25 cuz they have to win 2 games and their probability of winning is 2/5 cuz the pistons is 3/5 so 2/5x2/5=4/25.

anyway when are those results coming????

reword your question in the second paragraph you asked what is the largest finit you CAN get.
but at the bottom you asked what is the largest you can't get, basically you are trying to find a number in which 7 is not a factor, duh. The only way i can think of to solve that question is to make a simple program to check every number from 1 to a lot and see if 7 is a factor, I don't want to spend too much time thinking about it so whatever. what couldn't you just set up an arthemetic series, using sigma notation, ... U don;t think there is an answer, the largest you can't get with an infinit number of darts does not exist becauas you have an infinit number of darts. only 1 in seven numbers are a multiple of seven so you just add or subtract one from the greatest multiple of 7 you can think of and get a big number that you can't get with the darts. Since 14 is a multiple of seven 14 does not need to be taken into account. THere is not answer...

by the way your grammar needs work it is: "UI took my class and I" not "it took me and my class." pickwick what is the difference between who and whom?

I think what he means is "who" is active while "whom" recieves an action.

Ex: Who goes there?

I looked up whom at answers.com and it said it was objective case. I still think it is accusative. Leinad to/for doesn't neccesarily mean that it is dative.

Pickwick in that situation the Ninjas win at close range. Say both teams line up with 100 members each and have straight out shoot offs. The first round 60% (the percent killed by shurikens) of the pirates die and 75% of the ninjas die. So we have 40 pirates and 25 ninjas. Now before the Pirates can even reload the remaining ninjas have thrown their 75 other shurikens. So after 40 shurikens the pirates are down to 16 members. They get hit by 16 more shurikens and loss 9 more members. So 7 pirates are left and 19 shurikens are left so they lose another 4. With 3 Pirates left they finally reload (take it the pirates all have 5-6 shurikens in them). So you see the ninjas win with about 20 members left when they kill the last of the pirates.

At longer ranges the pirates win because they can kill 75% of the ninjas before the ninjas can even kill one of them.

But the whole prospect that ninjas or pirates would ever be caught in a grassy field. Since ninjas favor urban and wooded regions and pirates favor sea and urban areas it is more likely they would both meet in a city or town. So it really is hard to tell but I would still go with ninjas, because they are stealth masters and they use ambush tactics. The other fault is that ninjas operate (at largest) in small bands while pirates require a minimum of 20 - 30 people. Because ships need lots of hands to keep them going pirates gathered in larger groups around a ship or two. While assassinations and other stealth missions ninjas do require small quite bands to pull them off. Large bands get in the way of ninjas while small bands are bad for pirates. If ninjas and pirates were to battle in an urban environment with equal numbers then I would go with ninjas but I don't see that happening.

he lost to capn' cuz it was kongo jungle N64 and they had about equal damage and he falls into the barrel and it spits him out downward into oblivion. he used captain falcon and was one of the good players using him(adog from the open melee tournament as well, except i beat him in sudden death). i lost to newborn cuz i used marth against him and i'm not that good with marth. then it turns out that both of them are on a team and we redeem ourselves by beating them on yoshi's island N64. that was also a good match with everyone KOed except me.
the bad thing was that darksoul landed on my motion sensor lol.

yesterday i beat ownerer at pokemon stadium and it was a hard match. we played 4 stock, 8 minute time limit, no items, and only certain courses available. he was in the lead till i made a comeback and the match lasted a good 7 and a half minutes till i used my side smash(i love that move). but then darksoul beats me later cuz i screw up on dream land...

My last post was made in reference to Black Shark's quoting of the god-awful McDonalds theme song, probably in reference to the availability of DS wi-fi @ McDonalds. My theory is that our nation's youth will become even more obese than many of them already are, due to the availability of the underpriced, overfattened, and undernutritioned food offered at your local McDonalds.

And no, one cannot describe the aforementioned "new thread smell". One simply must experience it for oneself.

Eli had a couple ideas for the off season jan-May
Mariokart Tourney all ages see who really is the master
all star event Eli will choose or will have voting for each event and the top 16 teams and individuals in each event will compete in thier event.
Mayb you could have a clan tourtament where all the clans come and battle before season 3.
what about a middle school only MarioKart and melee tourtaments only fair since thier have been two netrual zone tourneys and the 13 and up the news didn't get out.
Maybe a no n000bs tourtaments you have to be proven to come. Any comments

No Sravan, UofM's having a pretty bad season actually. This win against Northwestern was big, especially since Northwestern is having a good season.

U of M lost to Notre dame, minnisota and wisconsin, the worste teams in the nation. That was partially due to the fact that their bestreciever braylon edwards left, because he was a senior, but it was also because steve breason and micheal hart had injuries during the minnisota, notre dame and wisconsin games. Also henne really messed up early in the season, his throws were terrible. It was a series of catatrophes that brought michigan down. I remember that one game against notre dane, 3 times michigan was in the red zone and not a single touchdown. Henne fumbled when he was at the one yard line of notre dame. Rivas messed up on some of his punts and catastophies as such which led to the loss of michigan. However we beat michigan state! and hopefully we will be ohio state. Last year we could have gotten an even higher rank, but ohio state took us out, even though they knew that they did not have a chance at the rose bowl, they were determined to take down michigan. This year the tables are turned and hopefully Michigan will take down OSU.

Michigan was unranked for a lot of the time, before the NW game they were ranked 25 now we are ranked 22.

I don't see why we need middle school only tournaments. Since most people in Ann Arbor middle schools now will be in the Ann Arbor high schools so they will be able to play at the NZ and 13+ tournaments when they get older. The NZ tournaments are the most under attended tournaments. It's mostly people that are at the NZ anyways with nothing to do, only 8-10 people compete in any one tournament. There is virtually no one that goes both to the NZ and to the Library tournaments. The 13+ tournament allowed younger people to compete if you were in the Season tournaments.

It's called the finals in December. Plus next tournament will be mainly Vets. based on the last tournament's turnout.

Ok, I want to make a distinction here. The freighting small children is at Evil bus driver's house. We only scare the kids as they walk though the yard to get to their beloved candy. Yes, yes it does. Believe me, for Leinad and I, missing the August tournament was horrible. So it was that month, plus all of the other time since the Grands last December. It was unbearable.

YAY!
One of our most sucssessful nights ever. We scared so many people. The biggest problem was that it rained as sravan had already stated. SPARTAN-014 came out early and helped set up the last few things of the yard haunt. Later, Duck came and him, I, and Nate (SPARTAN-014) had so much fun scaring the crap out of everyone. Of course we had more actors, but you dont know them so they dont matter.
I would just like to thank Ian and Nate for coming out and helping us. Especially with the candy coffin (that was priceless).

That would benefit our clan, yes, but it would also benefit other clans. I know that Sravan and Galen have double-qualified sometimes, and that their other clan members haven't, so it would be to their advantage as well. And anyone who has jlgelinas in their clan could just let him play and then they'd all move on to the prize round (being the Mr. quadruple-qualifier that he is...)

Just a thought... I don't think Eli will go for it, though.

double qualifying is kinda hard. tp2 has dont it at all the tournaments but in the august one he tripled. i only did it at the august tournament but that was a triple as well. galen has never doubled or tripled except in july where i should have quadrupled but eli didnt let us play team melee cuz we were already in the suprise round. that would not benifit our clan cuz all the people are qualified for the grands already anyways. and yea i don't like the proposal either.

btw tom y are u so worried. if u don't make it in november its ok u can become a wildcard. there is a high % that u will make it in for wildcard cuz all the other good ssbm and mkdd players won't be playing and u'll be playing cons.

TP2 right now the instution of allowing double + quilifiers to give surprize round would not benifit our clan since we don't have anyone to give them away. Allowing people to give away surprise round invites is a mixed blessing. It would allow a nice standard number of people eligable for the finals but would mean you have to play those people in the surprise round and finals and it coulld lead to a larger number of n00zs in the finals if people were forced to give it to random people.

Duck, yes we have no double qualifiers right now, but I haven't qualified yet and can't make the last tournament before the finals, so if you or beebles double qualifies, then Tom or I could take that one. But right now, I have no chance of qualifying pre-wild-card.

It would benefit my clan and I'm against it.

I know that this is a VMC plot to get Tom and Leinad into the Grands, but they can get in through the wildcard so it's not a big deal. If they can't get in through the wild card (which i believe they can do easily) why would we need to give them a free ride.

BTW if you let people in the way your suggesting than some people (I only know of 1, but there could be more) could give out at least 6 free rides.

If you could explain how this would help make the competition at the grands better I think you should continue, but otherwise drop it.

P.S. adding mediocrity to the grands is a bad thing so please don't use that argument again.

Just out of curiosity, is the format for the Grand Championship set in stone? I, for one, would like to see the Grand Prizes be awarded for accomplishments in Melee and Double Dash rather than for a mystery game which some are likely to have played before, giving them an unfair advantage. I think this has been brought up before, perhaps in the round 1 forum; I would like to reforward the idea for your comments, criticism, abuse, etc.

I'm going for second place overall (third in spirit, as TurtlePerson2 would likely have remained in first place with a formidable lead, had he been able to attend the concluding events of the season,) as your 1600 points is a trifle too much to make up for one competition. First place is what next year is for. :)

First off I would like to restate that I was agnaist melee becoming an event the whole team and now I am going to brag about my MarioKart skills by listing how well I have done compared to my brother.
August Me and my brother both aced qualifaction and got out in the first roung getting 5th
We won Co-oop
September
Each got two firsts in are fiirst two races then got a second in elimanation my brother got out in the first round with a seventh I advanced with a second place. In my next match I got Seventh.
OCTOBER
Quals me I got a third and a first and won my first elimanation beating all respected Leinad at Musroom bridge then I went to D.K. moutain were after skipping the half pipe because of bannas I got knocked off at the end of the bridge and barley pulled off a fourth by hiting a fake item box. Tp2 qualified with two seconds in his first two elimanation rounds he got a first and a second in the final race i was in fourth on the final stretch he used his bowser kart to edge me out and give me a fifth instead of the desired fourth. The first season the pressure got to me this time it isn't. Sorry to brag but, nobody reads my post anyway and it is a nice way to take out a bad week.

I got an 87, even though Mrs. Wise took off three points because I used the formula PV=nRT rather than PV=(-nRT), which meant that my answer, though each digit was correct, was positive rather than negative. Sorry for whining about a decent score; it was nearly an 'A', though.... *runs off to join BFTE in his occupation of crying.*

Except for the holding a teacher ransom part, and the bit about spending more time at Pioneer than absolutely necessary (Robotics Club counts as a necessity, of course), that plan sounds good! I especially liked the concept of 50 Extra Credit Points...... As finklestein would say, "I want one of those!"

Not to greedy just greedy enough. I mean holding someone hostage for a dollar is almost not worth it now 200 dollars is making it a much better deal without asking for the moon. Wouldn't the testing people be suspicious if we got every question correct? (Though, with the new system of implementing easy mathematical calculations so as to be able to eliminate the use of calculators on the test, it seems quite likely that some people, the three of us included, will accomplish that very feat of intellect.)

The question was about raising the temperature of 362g of water a total of five degrees Celsius (specific heat = 4.184 Joules per gram degree Celsius) with photons of a wavelength of 16.2 nm, or something like that. Anyway, it was asking for the total number of photons. I used lambda to calculate nu and, subsequently, delta E for the photon, then multiplied by x photons and set it equal to the energy added to the water in order to raise its temperature. Solve for x, and voila! 7 points EC! (Unless I'm wrong........)
Oh, and the snow is supposed to increase in intensity after midnight; 6:00 AM is when it's supposed to stop, so it is likely that the 5 to 8 inches (a more recent prediction) will be, for the most part, in place ere 4:00.

Well, the radar image has changed drastically, and for the worse. Snow has ceased falling from the sky, and no schools in the region have cancelled yet. I'm going to keep hoping, because there's no way I'm going to finish my rough draft by 6:45.

This is distressing news; I hadn't realised that Jonny's situation had become so dire. I loaned him my disc for Double Dash a week ago, so I had high hopes for his developing the driving skills necessary to effect an entry into the final rounds. Is there any way in which we might be able to help him go?
Regardless, I should be able to make it on Friday; the only conflicting consideration is the term paper, into which I still need to put several dozen hours ere I shall consider it complete. I haven't yet turned in the rough draft, and I don't expect that it will be worth any points when I do.

with fox when someone is off the stage, u use ur reflector and hit them with the lower right(if they are on the right side of the map)part and it sends them down at an angle. almost like meteor smashing. watch the video there are many examples.

yea shine is another name for the reflector. waveshine is wavedashing out of it. there are many tricks with the shine and many uses. the con fox player only uses the reflecting of items use.

No, Sir Kevin, I have not yet turned in the paper, though I plan to do so tomorrow -- for a total of zero of seventy-five. On the plus side, it won't need much revision before it reaches the calibre of a final draft, so, if I can get it done tonight/tomorrow morning, I will not be forced by the implacable constraint of time into 'pulling' any more 'all-nighters' next week. This will be a welcome change; this paper has already seen six, staggered so that they were performed in three pairs of two. This forestalls, to a limited extent, the production of gibberish, which, I have found, is the ineluctable result of staying up more sixty consecutive hours.
I'm going to be somewhat tired on Saturday, as with the previous two, so could everybody else play badly so that I fit in? Pretty please?

My term paper is going fairly well, though Google's search function is giving me bizarre results: when I search for several terms, all of them under the "must include" heading, it yields several sites with only one or two of the required words before showing the most relevant sites. It also shows text in the brief preview for each link that doesn't appear on the website linked to. This has slowed my task greatly, but I remain stalwart in my determination to fulfill my quest: to cross the Andes by frog.

I disagree with your assessment; those are two of the best players in the country(if not, perhaps, at the shown characters,) although yes, they did kill themselves a total of four times or so. No, I haven't managed to find a good Luigi video yet, though I will once my term paper is done. I have an additional reason to like Luigi now: at the GC, I got fourth place both times I played as Marth(though in fairness, Big Blue and Flat Zone are my worst stages), fourth once and second once as Fox, and first both games I played Luigi--pr0 was in the second one of those :<) .

Haven't looked at this for a while. Merry Christmas or whatever. Yes i finished my paper and it was 22 pgs long. Tom you're losing your memory. pr0 got third in that one because me and u were both luigi and we got into sudden death and i got thrown up but then u killed him from the side and he died faster. So I got second which was pretty funny cuz I was slowy flying away while he just got blasted off the side

Haha that is why I took regular history. I only had a 3 page paper and over half the points were in the do nothing parts.

Ok thanks I now see how I have to fight a combo freak fox. That was so boring though you could see how unbalanced those moves are and knew every move he was going to make without being able to counter it. There are only 3 or 4 characters that can avoid those shine spikes at longer ranges, the rest a dead once they get off the edge.
