"Double Tenth Day"
It may not be so important except for those who enjoy cool numerical configurations that today is the tenth day of the tenth month, but in Taiwan, there are many festivities celebrating Double Tenth National Day. On October 10, 1911, there was an uprising against the Imperial Manchu Dynasty which led to the birth of the Republic of China. The day begins with a ceremony in front of the Presidential Office Building and ends with an impressive fireworks display.
