OK, guys, it's time for the start of the 4th Annual AADL-GT Super Smash Double Dash championship season! Round 1 is just days away, but first, we've got something new that you may be interested in: the AADL-GT Podcast studio. We're producing a short podcast about the next season, and this Tuesday, August 21, from 3-5 PM, you can come to the downtown library and find out how to produce your own AADL-GT Podcast! Maybe you want to make your predictions for the season; maybe you want to do a monthly podcast about your clan and its prowess. Maybe you want to take your trash talk to the next level... or maybe you'd like to discuss the subtleties of smash attacks. You tell us! Come to get familiar with the tools on Tuesday, and then make a studio appointment to record your podcast. We'll then publish your podcasts here on aadl.org where anyone can subscribe to your show. See you there!

But, that's not all. We'll warm up for the start of the season in the Downtown Library Multipurpose Room with an All-Ages Dance Dance Revolution Tournament, Friday Night, 8/24 from 6-8:45 PM. We'll then have Super Smash Double Dash Round 1 for grades 6-12, Saturday, 8/25, from Noon - 5 PM, and then something new: an All-ages Mario Party tournament, Sunday, 8/26, from 1-4 PM. So, get registered, get your clan together for the start of the clan season, and we'll see you at the events!

I was wondering if it was possible to make the podcast at home instead of coming to the studio. I have near studio quality equipment at home (Sound Blaster X-Fi, Noise Cancelling Mic, Audacity, etc.) and would like to do a podcast, but would prefer to do it at home so that I can work on it for a little while longer than I might be able to at a studio.

TP2, of course you can record and edit your podcast at home. Just email it, burn it to a cd, or bring it to me on a thumb drive and I'll get it on the webserver.

As for the season 2 DVD, there hasn't been one yet, although we've been working, believe it or not, on a new video of the season 2 grand championships. But, you guys may be interested in these streaming and ipod versions of the season 1 and 3 GCs. EBD, let me know if you mean the season 3 dvd, we need to be sure to get you one of those since there wouldn't have been one without your help. =)

Ok the 6 person clan is great and is the perfect number.

I would like 8 player pools but if there is lag and messed up game play than 4 player is best. Than top 32 move on too new pools. where you have 2 too a station on 4 stations, 8 player pools. They get 3 races than a new group jumps in. These pools shouldn't take that long and would be great because you get the 8 player experience and the pool Than there is the infamous final race to decide prize winners.

I always like the idea of a second round of pools for melee.

Also for commentating are the events going to be televised?

I had one idea I'd like to run by you is the possibility of in the booth interviews. So me and Tom could get a little more in depth interviews than the current ones. I was thinking we would talk to someone before the match and ask if they want to be interviewed after the match and have them come back to the booth and we talk to them about the match and the rest of the tournament/season.

Is the clan cup going to be the same format?

Any word on clan/individual prizes? Will they be the same as last season?

I've been working on a round table style podcast and I think that I'm ready to start doing a couple of episodes. I'm looking for people who have opinions on issues related to the AADL GT and I'd prefer that you'd be a player who has some AADL GT experience of at least one season.

I'll be doing the show by VoIP so you'll need to have xfire to participate. Xfire is an IM tool aimed at gamers that also doubles as a VoIP program. If anyone is interested please post on this forum and I'll try to figure out a good time for a show is.

VoIP, put simply, is a way of making a telephone call over the Internet. Xfire is a program like AIM, except that it does a couple of other things too. One of those other things is VoIP.

Major Tom, you're most certainly welcome on the podcast. You're not a current competitor in the tournament, but you have been to all three seasons and as a commentator you have some good insight into all the matches where as I only see some of them.

Yea, Skype is better, but xfire is a lot more convenient for me and the audio quality will be about the same.

No, sorry. There is no way of changing the network, I've tried. The only way to fix it is to reset the entire group and make a new one. That way I can make it global. I still need a partner for both games and I'd rather not get some random newbie while I'm there...

Limabean, it may be that your a better smasher than i, however, the mario kart doubble dash skill, is still highly debatable, all i can say is that under times of intense pressure, my results and gaming fluidity increase durastically, im just of those high end high tear mkdd players which are hard to come across.

As of right now, Anther has expressed interest. I'll be coming, but I really don't matter. You might remember me as that one kid who really sucked and only barely made it into the brackets with a meager 6 wins during pools. Randy will be coming, and he says he wants to try to stop Anther from getting first. My friend will be coming, but he's mostly just going to be around because we're going to see a movie later, or something.
