Oscar-Nominated Documentary: "Restrepo"

by hillary dorwart

Following on the heels of Sebastian Junger's May 16 appearance at the Library, AADL is proud to present "Restrepo" - the acclaimed 90-minute documentary that Junger co-directed with the late British/American photojournalist Tim Hetherington.

The film explores the year that these two men spent in Afghanistan on assignment for Vanity Fair. The documentary chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley, focusing on a remote 15-man outpost, Restrepo, named after a platoon medic who was killed in action. It was considered one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military.

This 2010 documentary is rated 'R' for language and some violence.
