A Very Special Dental Storytime

by darla

In celebration of National Children's Dental Health Month, join us for a dental-themed storytime with local dentist, Dr. Bunek. Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums!

This special storytime is happening this week, Wednesday, February 23rd, 11:30 AM at our Malletts Creek Branch. We look forward to seeing you there!

For more information on dental health, check out some of our AADL materials like The Tooth Book : A Guide To Healthy Teeth And Gums, I Know Why I Brush My Teeth, Open Wide : Tooth School Inside, and Make Way For Tooth Decay. Planning a child's visit to the dentist? Check out books like My First Visit To The Dentist, What To Expect When You Go To The Dentist, The Berenstain Bears Visit The Dentist, or Dora The Explorer : A Visit To The Dentist. Show me your smile! Check out our Stories-to-Go: Teeth kit for a tote bag filled with 6 books, 1 DVD, and 1 Activity folder.

For adults interested in the history of the profession, check out the fascinating (and often disturbing) Dentistry : An Illustrated History or The Excruciating History Of Dentistry / Toothsome Tales And Oral Oddities From Babylon To Braces.

The Stories to Go: Teeth kit sounds like an excellent way to safely introduce the prospect of going to the dentist to kids. Fun fact: the kit is assembled by Ann Arbor District Library with the American Dental Association Leadership project.
