This weekend marks the start of the 2nd AADL-GT Tournament Season for grades 6-12, with the opener starting at Noon Saturday, 8/20/2005, at the Downtown Library. This event will be broadcast LIVE on Comcast channel 18, from Noon-5 PM.

Because the event will be televised, you will need to bring this release form, signed by your parent or guardian, or you won't be able to play! Don't forget it! If you participated in last season's Grand Championships and already turned in a release form, you don't need to do it again.

AADL-GT Season 2 will include single-player and team events in Mario Kart: Double Dash race mode, and Super Smash Brothers 2-stock battle. The prize round will be a mystery game, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize round winners take home $70, $50, and $30 giftcards respectively.

Registration for this event will open Wednesday Night, 8/17/2005. You will be able to register your handle, sign up your teams, and create your clans.

Creating a clan will involve entering the four nicknames of your 4 primary clan members. Clans must have exactly 4 primary members. At each tournament, for your clan to score points, you must roster exactly 4 players, and at least 1 of those 4 must be a primary clan member. You can get subs to fill out the other spots. Subs can only be primaries of other clans if their clan is not rostering at that tournament. While it's in your best interest to figure out who your subs will be ahead of time, there will be time at the beginning of the event to come up with clan subs.

Bonuses will be awarded to clans for recruiting players that didn't play last season. These bonuses will be applied AFTER each tournament is over, and won't be included when determining the clan winner of each tournament.

Wow, chill! I've just uploaded your clan logo, Black Shark. I assume you're going to be Black Shark Clan, if not, let me know and I can change it.

Here's how were going to do commentary on Saturday. I want to give as many people a chance to do it as want to try it. Sravan and Duck can start, since they asked first, and then when one or the other of them has to play, someone else can try. We'll keep rotating every time someone has to play, and there won't be a limit to the number of turns you take in the commentary box. So Black Shark, Muffincat, Miniblin, even Galen, anyone who wants to try their hand at videogame broadcasting can give it a whirl and come back for more if they want to. However, after this first tournament, I will be choosing commentators for the remaining tournaments based on quality, so you can consider this an audition. Be funny, knowledgeable, animated, and sportsmanlike, and maybe you'll be asked back.

As for recruitment bonuses, your clan will get a bonus if new players, who have not attended a single event before last month's preseason, say they were recruited by a primary member of your clan. If your clan recruits 4 players who form a new clan, you get the clan recruitment bonus too. Recruitment bonuses do not apply to individual scores, only to clan scores.

since the tournament is coming up i guess i should make some predictions. for single mario kart the 8 players in the finals will be joe,derek,duck,miniblin,me,galen,black shark and maybe a new comer. team mario kart the 4 teams are the trouble monkeys, mike rotch, miniblin's team, the noobz(flare's team)or the vaccinated monks its 4 of those 5. single melee this is the hard one so i will pick the top 8 and from then on i dont know-me,galen,mini blin,flare,badger,tofu, and flar's partner, espcially not JOHN DURSKI cuz everyone know his so called "trick". joe and derek i dont know ur skill so i cant put u in the predictions and WHERE R U GUYS? team melee isnt that hard-mike rotch,the noobz,the badgers(if badger is on this team), and i guess the trouble monkeysor the vaccinated monks 4 of those 5. as for the suprise round i dont know but if its a mode in melee then me,galen, and flare will rule but if its mario kart mirror the joe and derek will rule. and i predict the clan winner of the august tournament to be the TROUBLE MONKEYS!!!! the vaccinated monks im not so sure about cuz u got those new comers in. flar's clan stands a good chance even though i only know 2 ppl in his clan. the most referals will obviously be bad driver and the turtle clan. anyway i better go to bed its 1am lol.

in this post im gonna rank all of the melee characters into teirs. the lower the tier the better the character. Tier1:fox,falco,marth,dr.mario,mario,link.( yea i bet a lot of ppl will disagree)
Tier2:ice climbers,ness,sheik,zelda,samus,gannondorf,C.falcon,young link,DK,roy,bowser,pikachu,mr.game and watch
Tier3:pichu,jigglypuff,kirby,mewtwo,luigi(he has like no traction)
i think i got everyone but i think that maybe falcon should be in tier 1 cuz he is the fastest character in the game.im also thinking bowser should be demoted cuz his attacks are sooooooo slow. what do u guys think?

eli do u like my idea for the clan cup where wach player is ranked 1-4 where 1 is the best and 4 is the worst. then when we play melee all 1's can play eachother and all 2's etc. if we have 5-7 clans then u can work it out because u do that all the times at the torunaments where u have an odd number of players.

I oppose having it be 1v1.

This is the tier list based on win and losses in melee tournaments by the top players. They play by differnt rules then us but they don't have a huge time problem. do not bother auguing if you think your character is better then another prove it in melee tournaments.

This tier system takes only the best players to rank the characters. You have to be in the top 5% to be monentered. If we had anyone that was of that level in the tournament no one else could toch them. A pichu played by one the players that they monator could beat marth across the floor.

ness is only good in team battles in free for all he will get pwned. u can be cheap with DK except when the other person is marth or roy and they can counter ur giant punch.

i belive link and jiggly puff should switch places u can be cheap with link only using his up-B move. the winners of the preseason melee competition was fox,marth,kirby, and ness. we'll see in this tournament which characters will go on top. i understand pichu and mewtwo being on the bottom tier pichu hurts himself and mewtwo's down smash doesnt hit in blth directions and its very slow. the main purpose of a down smash is to hit in both directions.

belive it or not yoshi is actually as fast as sheik with 10.94 mps(meters per second). marth is next with 12.41 mps, then fox with 13.29mps and in 1st place is C Falcon with 14.3mps. of course the speed changes when ppl are bigger and tiny. if u dont belive me this guy i know used this kickass way to find out character speeds and weight. if u want to know the way then ask.

roy is not much different from marth he is only a little bit slower but a lot more powerful. their swords have the same range, marths up-B is faster but roy's does more damage. i belive roy's counter is better then marths but if u miss with roys counter then your opponent has a lot of time to attack u. people think that dr.mario and mario are different but they are actually have a lot of similarities. they are the same speed 9.78mps and i belive they have the same strength. there only difference is their meteor smash which is forward A in the air and their B attack. mario's meteor smash is like a spike but dr.'s hits the to the side doing 18% its my favorite attack with him.

ok its really cool. first u use DK on final destination. then u pick up zelda and run across the stage with her. it should take 2.5seconds. then u do homeruncontest with DK and pick up the sandbag and run for 2.5 seconds and the average of all his tries was 61feet thus final destination is 61feet. so the formula is s=d/t where speed is s,d is distance and t is time. u have the distance which is 61 so s=61ft/t. now u time each character running acorss final destination. so for example mario runs across in 1.9seconds thus meaning 32.1ft/second if u round to the nearest tenth. to get meters u convert it by dividing the fps(feet per second)by 3.2808 which is the approximate conversion so u get 9.78 mps for mario!!!!

You know I much more concerned about swimming with dolphins then swimming with Sharks. Dolphins will kill each other including young for almost nothing, sharks just kill to eat and their mouths are recessed so they can't bite well.

I would have to say that I am greatly opposed to forcing people to be on a melee team with someone who they played co-op MK with. I know that might make it easier, but the guy I want to have on my melee team has never even played mario kart and the guy I want on my mario kart team isn't as good at melee as the other guy.

Creating and rostering a clan are two different things. When you create a Clan, you specify exactly 4 primary members. Whether or not these people will be at any particular tournament is irrelevant; they are your primary members, and if they are present at the clan cup and your clan wins, they get the prize. So, you'll create your clan primaries, but you won't submit your roster for a tournament until checkin the day of the tournament, to allow for last-minute cancellations, subs, etc. So, it's up to you to decide who your Clan primaries are. Does that help?

And, TP2, I've decided that teams won't be locked, so you can swap pairings in your clan for the team events, but remember that you can only roster exactly 4 players for your clan at a tournament, so specialists will still have to play for the clan on their weaker game.

Also, to insert your logo, after I've uploaded it, click the image assist icon (with the green plus) when you're posting, choose your image, then scroll down in the bottom window and choose 'insert image'. That will give you a tag in your comment that calls the image. Put that tag at the bottom of your post, and you're all set.

Well, you guys are entitled to your opinions, of course, but as you know, it's my decision, and I will make it on the fly depending on how things are going. I do like the idea of 1v1 finals, because they're more intense and a better judge of skill, but we will not be doing 2/3 or 3/5 melee matches 1 match, that's it. Cutthroat!

i didnt read ugo's post cuz it was at the same time as mine. ugo galen is better than u and u have to admit it. john durski is not that good he uses kirby for gods sake. galen only barely lost to him because the course was infinate glacier. balla isnt that good either but mini blin is pretty good. duck can not beat either me,flare,galen, or mini blin. u didnt even make the top 16. u can stay in denial if u want.

1 v. 1 matches require a lot more skill than 4 player free-for-alls. I have been playing a lot of matches with 4 humans and I find that the matches can move very slowly because, of hiding.
By The Way I can't get the clan symbol to work to work. Has anyone ever used it on a mac.
