Celebration Concert For AADL’s National Award for Subregional Library of the Year Featuring Blues & Boogie-Woogie Pianist Mr. B

Sunday August 16, 2015: 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm -- Downtown Library: 1st Floor Lobby

The Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled at Ann Arbor District Library (WLBPD@AADL) was honored to receive the prestigious National Award for Subregional Library of the Year during a special luncheon ceremony on Friday, June 19 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Celebrate this honor locally with us at a special concert at the Downtown Library with Ann Arbor’s favorite blues & boogie-woogie pianist, Mark Lincoln Braun.

Mark (Mr. B) has become one of the premiere purveyors of a vanishing art. Having learned his craft first-hand from the early masters, he is a rare living link to the first generation of blues and boogie pianists. Steeped in the rich legacy of this tremendously exciting music, Mr. B learned directly from blues and boogie legends like Little Brother Montgomery, Boogie Woogie Red, and Blind John Davis. Mr. B appears by special arrangement with Great Lakes Performance Artists in Ann Arbor.

Light refreshments will be served and there will be ample opportunity to learn more about WLBPD@AADL services to blind and physically handicapped individuals throughout Washtenaw County. The community celebration will also include brief remarks by Vicki Collins, Head, Network Services Section of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) at the Library of Congress.

Mr. B is very boogie.

Mr. B is very boogie. You might even say he's boogie-woogie. I wonder if there'll be a Mister C in A2 someday. That's sorta like wondering if there'll be a Shaky Snake. Or a Shaky Flake? Or a Shiky Jike? Or one could ponder who Mr. A was, or might have been.

Congratulations to AADL for
