Description

Award-winning mystery author Nevada Barr makes a special visit at AADL to discuss her new mystery novel in the Anna Pigeon series, Destroyer Angel. This event, co-sponsored by AADL and Aunt Agatha’s Mystery Bookshop, includes a book signing and books will be for sale.

For park ranger Anna Pigeon, the indomitable heroine of Nevada Barr’s best-selling series, the wilderness has always been a second home. Anna enters the forest again in this new mystery, embracing its unforgiving rules and feeling herself edge closer to the dangerous nature of its inhabitants.

While on a camping trip in Minnesota’s Iron Range, Anna heads away from her group for a moment to spend some time alone in the wild; while she does so, the group she left behind is approached by four armed men, intending to take them hostage. The mysterious captors march the group through the wilderness, to a rendezvous spot with an airplane; but Anna is never far behind, and while she may not be armed, she has the advantage of knowing how to survive in the wilderness—and how to stalk one’s prey.

A novelist, actor, and painter, New York Times best-selling author Nevada Barr has put her own experience as a National Park Service Ranger to repeated good use. Though Nevada Barr was born in the state that shares her name, her father actually named her after a favorite book character of his – a predestined connection to writing and storytelling. Nevada currently resides in New Orleans with her husband and many pets; she has since retired from the parks service, devoting herself full-time to her writing career.
