Nationally-renowned poet Angel Nafis is joined by poets from the Neutral Zone’s VOLUME Youth Poetry Project and local poet Jeff Kass for a special evening of powerful poetry readings to celebrate National Poetry Month!

Angel Nafis lives in Brooklyn but is an Ann Arbor native. She is a Cave Canem Fellow, an organization committed to cultivating the artistic and professional growth of African American poets. She is the author of BlackGirl Mansion and her work has appeared in FOUND Magazine’s Requiem for a Paper Bag, Decibels, The Rattling Wall, Union Station Magazine, GirlSpeak Webzine, The Bear River Review, MUZZLE Magazine, and Mosaic Magazine.

In 2011 she represented the LouderArts poetry project at both the Women of the World Poetry Slam and the National Poetry Slam. She is an Urban Word NYC Mentor and the founder, curator, and host of the quarterly Greenlight Bookstore Poetry Salon reading series.

Ann Arbor’s own Jeff Kass, author of Knuckleheads, is a teacher at both Pioneer High School and Eastern Michigan University. A nationally-known poet, he is also the creative arts director at the Neutral Zone.
