MLK DAY CONCERT:
Enjoy the sounds of American innovation and African traditions when the acclaimed performance group Biakuye (pictured above) presents a lively MLK Day concert on Monday, January 20 at 1 pm at the Downtown Library.
ANNUAL ANN ARBOR/YPSILANTI READS AUTHOR EVENT:
Author Ruta Sepetys discusses her international bestseller Between Shades Of Gray at the Tuesday, January 21 Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads Event held at Washtenaw Community College in the Morris Lawrence Building. Doors will open at 6 pm for light refreshments and a chance to meet with community agencies. The lecture, which begins at 7 pm. will be followed by a book signing and copies of the book will be for sale.
SUNDANCE-WINNING FILM:
Two middle-class African-American boys enter a very prestigious and historically white Manhattan private school in the acclaimed 2013 documentary American Promise, which will be screened at the Downtown Library on Thursday, January 23 at 6:30 pm. This event is a collaboration with POV, PBS’ award-winning nonfiction film series.
FIFTH ANNUAL PRESCHOOL EXPO:
Looking for just the right preschool for your child? Don't miss AADL's Preschool Expo on Sunday, January 26 from 1 - 4 pm. Held at Palmer Commons on the U-M Campus, this extremely popular event brings representatives from local preschools to one location, providing ample opportunity for one-on-one conversations about what preschool options best fit your needs.
