Description
UMS "Reading Culture" Book Clubs for educators expand and build upon ideas within the UMS season of events using relevant works of literature.
Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain explores the traits of introverts, and how understanding and unlocking the creative capacities of our quietest students could lead to the next “uncommon virtuoso” and maximize individual potential.
At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.
In these facilitated sessions, participants explore and express opinions about stimulating books and learn strategies for leading classroom book discussions. The first 30 registrants receive a free copy of the book. To register, call the University Musical Society at 734-615-0122 or visit the UMS website at ums.org.
