What Children Need to Know to Start School - A Workshop For Parents, Caregivers And Professionals Working With Young Children

Friday April 13, 2012: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

This workshop, provided by MSU Extension, is directed at parents and professionals working with young children, whether in a public library or childcare setting.

By the end of kindergarten a child will have been in class for 700 hours; but before kindergarten even begins, parents, grandparents, day-care providers, aunts, uncles, churches, businesses, libraries, and communities will have had the child for 52,000 hours. This is the time frame when children are learning important skills that can provide them with the cornerstones needed for the development of later academic success.
