UMS Event for Teachers: Soundscapes: Engaged Listening In the Classroom
Led by Susan Key, Program Director of Keeping Score Education at the San Francisco Symphony, educators explore content and strategies for developing listening skills and integrated curricula for K-12. The workshop material is particularly appropriate for social studies, language arts, and environmental science curricula, but also offers specific exercises to help improve any student's focus and attention.
Connected to the UMS presentation of the San Francisco Symphony's American Mavericks Festival, this workshop for K-12 educators focuses on the life and music of American composer, businessman, and inventor Charles Ives, whose music paints a multi-dimensional portrait of life in early 20th-century America.
