Wanted: Books like Night Circus & The Time Traveler's Wife

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is being called the most original love story since The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I loved them both & want more. Any suggestions? the love, the longing, the way the stories roll out in non-sequential order - great stuff!

Best Answer:

I looked at Novelist, a Readers Advisory database (located on AADL's Research page) and found a few books that you might be interested in.

The Swan Thieves, by Elizabeth Kostova - Uses parallel narratives from different time periods to tell a story of star-crossed lovers.

Replay, by Ken Grimwood - A middle-aged man dies and awakens in 1963 in his 18-year old body. He retains his memories of his previous adulthood and continues his life. This happens repeatedly throughout the course of the story.

Under the Poppy, by Kathe Koja - Love, betrayal, blackmail, sex, death, and a jumble of characters. This darkly atmospheric novel has it all.

My Name Is Memory, by Ann Brashares - In Niffenegger's novel, love was complicated by time travel. In this story, it is complicated by reincarnation.

The Confessions of Max Tivoli, by Andrew Sean Greer - From the Amazon review: "An extraordinarily haunting love story told in the voice of a man who appears to age backwards."
