Metropolis

by jaegerla

Metropolis is a visually awe-inspiring film centered on the conflict between the upper and working classes. With a timeless message and carefully choreographed scenes the movie also serves as a great reminder of the appeal of silent film. Up until July of 2008, several scenes were missing due to studio edits and material plain going missing. However an Argentinian archive recovered a copy of the film in its entirety, which is rumored to be released sometime in the upcoming year. The DVD the library carries contains every portion of the film that has been released to date, along with descriptions of the missing plot pieces. This version also comes with a concise audio commentary by Enno Patalas.

Just to let you know, in July 2008 they found a complete version of this film in Argentina. I don't think that they have released the complete version on DVD yet, but the missing parts are no longer missing.

This is exciting!

This movie not to be confused with the animated [b:1222062|Metropolis (2001)].
