Philip Jose Farmer, creator of Riverworld and Dayworld, has died

Philip Jose Farmer, prolific science fiction writer who enjoyed international acclaim while living in relative obscurity in his hometown of Peoria, IL, died Wednesday, February 25.
Farmer first startled science fiction readers with his explicit description of human/alien sex in the short story, The Lovers (1952). Another short story, Riders of the Purple Wage (1967), won a Hugo. Both stories appear in The Best of Philip Jose Farmer (2006).
His first entry in his Riverworld series, To Your Scattered Bodies Go (1971), also won a Hugo.
Mr. Farmer was 91.

He was such an insightful
He was such an insightful writer. I found the first couple of Riverworld books so powerful and disturbing that I never went past Dark Design. He portrayed humanity in the most honest way possible. There may be several authors just as good as Farmer, but I can't think of any who are better.
