Tiana Marquez and the Story of the Children's Crusade

by Tahira

The Children's Crusade was the name bestowed upon a march by hundreds of school students in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 2 and May 3, 1963, during the American Civil Rights movement. Organized by Rev. James Bevel, the purpose of the march was to protest the arrest and jailing of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Join the celebration of Black History Month when singer/storyteller Tiana Marquez performs the dramatic story of the Children’s Crusade on Sat., Feb. 21 at 2 pm at the Downtown Library.
