2009 - 2010 New-Car Buyer's Guide noting "gas misers" that get 30+ miles per gallon. Not a single 2010 model featured in the review earned the "gas miser" rating. The misers are the Honda Civic, Clarity, and Fit, the Mini Clubman and Cooper, the Nissan Altima, the Smart Fortwo, the Tesla Roadster, the Toyota Camry, Corolla, Prius, and Yaris, and the Volkswagen Jetta.

Mother Earth News is building a car for the Automotive X competition. The car built by Jack McCornack is called Max and gets 100 miles per gallon using a Kubota diesel engine (a tractor engine).
