Playgroups

Friday August 1, 2014: 10:30 am to 11:30 am -- Traverwood Branch: Program Room

This is a time for babies up to 24 months and their grown-ups to gather and play. The Library will provide the space and a variety of toys.

Each playgroup includes 15 minutes of stories, rhymes and songs. Parents/guardians must remain with their children.

No older siblings, please.

Community Vinyasa Yoga

Saturday August 2, 2014: 10:30 am to 12:00 pm -- Traverwood Branch: Program Room

This event is intended for adults and teens grades 6 and up

Yoga is a fun way to gain strength, flexibility and balance, while decreasing stress and tension. Come learn some of the basics of the Vinyasa style of yoga, which integrates breath with movement. Certified yoga instructor, Raina LaGrand of A2 Yoga, will be teaching. Participants should dress ready to work out and bring a mat if they have one! All levels welcome, but participants should be able to move comfortably from the floor to standing.

Sensation Stations

This event is intended for 18 month to 2 years

Drop in for sensory fun with your little ones. Young children will engage their senses by scooping, pouring, sorting, squeezing, and shaking a variety of materials.

Women Traveling Solo: Travel Tips With Margaret Flannery Of Hostelling International USA

Are you a woman who has always wanted to travel solo, but have never actually done it? Maybe you are concerned with safety, or have other reasons which have held you back. Well, this talk is for you! Margaret Flannery of Hostelling International USA will provide tips on traveling safely and enjoyably.

Traveling alone as a woman can be an empowering experience. Safety is, of course, always a consideration, especially in a place where you are unfamiliar with the culture and customs. However, doing a little prep work beforehand will help you make the most out of your journey. Margaret will address budgeting, accommodations, safety, language and cultural customs and other useful topics.
