The Future of Our Past: The Evolution of Multicultural Children's Literature - A UM Children's Book Exhibit Presented by the UM Special Collections Library

Now through November 29, 2009 -- Downtown Library: Lower Level Display Cases

This joint exhibit between AADL and the University of Michigan Special Collections Library follows the evolution of multicultural children's literature, from its origins in the folklore and folktales of a given people through the contemporary literature of each culture. Books from the UM Children's Literature Collections, as well as material from many of the cultures on display, will be included to highlight this evolution. The exhibit was compiled by Holly Sorscher.

An opening reception for this exhibit will take place on Friday, October 23, 7 - 8:30 pm in the Downtown Library Multi-Purpose Room. The reception will feature music by jazz guitarist Jake Reichbart, elegant refreshments, and several presentations by UM Special Collections staff, providing an overview to this outstanding exhibit of multicultural children's literature.
