Estate Planning, Wills And Trusts For People With Disabilities
Monday August 9, 2010: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm -- Malletts Creek Branch: Program Room A
Families may have resources they would like to share with a family member with a disability, but do not want to damage eligibility for public benefits. This session will focus on special needs trusts and planning for the future of a person with a disability so they can maintain public benefits and have additional resources to enhance their quality of life.
Joshua Fink is an attorney engaged primarily in estate planning for families with children that have developmental disabilities or mental illness. He will identify the main types of special needs trusts, explain how the money in a special needs trust can be used, and describe when and how to put into place special provisions in wills and trusts. This program is part of the Everything You Always Wanted to Know Family Learning Series, offered by the Ann Arbor District Library and the Washtenaw Association for Community Advocacy.
