Take a Hike! @Bird Hills Nature Area
Saturday October 3, 2009: 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
All ages are invited to take a nature walk, led by the City of Ann Arbor Natural Preservation Staff, in the Bird Hills Nature Area. One of Ann Arbor's most beloved parks, Bird Hills covers 147 acres and is the largest park in the city. This is a 'tree appreciation' hike where we will view a variety of trees, discover the ways to identify them, and learn about ecological restoration and responsible use of public lands. Due to the variety of natural communities in Bird Hills, opportunities for wildlife viewing are plentiful. Black, red, and fox squirrels, ground squirrels, deer, and butterflies are very common here. Dress comfortably to walk and enjoy nature. We'll meet in the parking lot off Newport Road, just north of M-14.
