Sustainability Safari - Walking Tour Of Sustainable Techniques In Ann Arbor

Wednesday July 8, 2009: 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm

This walking tour, led by the Ann Arbor Chapter of Wild Ones, begins at the Cobblestone Farm Parking Lot at Buhr Park (2781 Packard Road in southeast Ann Arbor) and will involve a 1.5 mile walk over sidewalks (and some lawns). Children are welcome and the route is ADA accessible. The walk will include a look at the sustainable elements of Malletts Creek Branch as well as several other Southeast Ann Arbor sites: The Buhr Park Children’s Wet Meadow, Easy Street and Mary Beth Doyle Park. Experts will offer comments on each site. Hear the experts and see sustainable techniques in action. The designers of these improvements who will share insights into the methods used include: Patrick Judd, Conservation Design Forum, Shannon Gibb-Randall of InSite Design, and a “Super Swamper” of the Children’s Wet Meadow.

This event is held in conjunction with the Library’s summer reading program, Local Motion - which encourages the use of local neighborhoods, organizations gyms, recreational facilities and outdoor areas to move and get fit.
