Personal Trainer Andrew Phelka Demonstrates Active Isolated Stretching Techniques

Fitness Expert and Personal Trainer Andrew Phelka leads this program in conjunction with the Library’s summer reading program, Local Motion, which encourages us to get fit in our local community. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a physiologically based technique for gaining flexibility and rehabilitating specific muscle chains. It is applicable to everyone from talented and successful athletes to accident and stroke victims. Andrew Phelka has over 120 hours of formal instruction in AIS along with degrees in Biochemistry (BS) and Human Nutrition (MS) from the University of Michigan. He is an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer with nearly a decade of practice and experience.
