Project Grow's Executive Director Melissa Kesterson Presents: An Introduction to Vegetable Gardening

Many people are becoming more aware of local food and organic produce and part of this healthy trend is an increase in the number of people gardening. Learn the basics of growing your own food when Project Grow community gardens’ director and advanced master gardener Melissa Kesterson visits the library to share her knowledge on topics such as learning how to identify the proper site for a garden, preparing the soil, laying out the garden space and planning your garden for the season. We will also discuss problems and issues gardeners face in their gardens (pests, watering, mulching, etc) and solutions using organic gardening methods.
Project Grow is a private, non-profit organization with an emphasis on community gardening and gardening education. Their mission is to give people the space, education and inspiration to make organic gardening accessible to all.
