Out Here: Paintings by Cathy Barry

Now through April 29, 2013 -- Malletts Creek Branch: Exhibits

The exhibit, "Out Here," explores Cathy Barry's ongoing interest in views of land, space, and the cosmos as seen from many types of references: aerial photography, cartography, astrophotography and images from the Hubble telescope. Cathy finds the imagery beautiful and thought provoking. Her artistic process involves splattering, sanding, scraping, rubbing, and layering. She uses templates to build up each layer and drawing and watercolors to inform the oil paintings.

Cathy received her Bachelors of Fine Art (Painting) from the University of Michigan School of Art and Design and her Masters of Fine Art from Eastern Michigan University (Painting and Drawing). She is an instructor of art at Washtenaw Community College and maintains a studio in Ann Arbor.
