Author Karen Simpson Discusses The Process Of Writing, Ann Arbor History, And Her Book "Act Of Grace"

Join us as the Library welcomes local author Karen Simpson for this afternoon event co-sponsored by the Washtenaw County Historical Society.

Karen Simpson has served on the Washtenaw County Historical Society Board, and is passionate about the discipline of historical research. Her 2011 novel "Act of Grace" won several awards, including the Silver Independent Publishers Book Awards for visionary fiction. The novel is inspired by an incident that happened almost 15 years ago at a Klan rally in Ann Arbor. She will discuss the process of writing, as well as the Ann Arbor incident that resulted in her creation of her award-winning first novel.

A historic preservationist trained in heritage interpretation and administration, Karen she has designed exhibits for museums and other historical institutions that deal with issues of cultural diversity and racial reconciliation. The subjects and themes for her fiction are often taken from the stories she discovered while doing research. "Act of Grace" is her first novel.

This event includes a book signing and books will be for sale.
