Michigan Notable Book Author Paul Trynka Discusses His Biography of Music Legend Iggy Pop

Nicknamed "The Godfather of Punk," Iggy Pop rose out of Ann Arbor to front The Stooges, one of America's most influential rock 'n' roll bands. The musical genres of punk, glam and New Wave were all heavily influenced by Iggy's performances. Author and former editor of MOJO magazine Paul Trynka discusses the life and career of Iggy Pop and his biography "Iggy Pop: Open Up And Bleed," a 2008 Michigan Notable book. Trynka's book also illustrates the role Ann Arbor and Detroit played in the development of the alternative music scene. The event will include a book signing with books for sale courtesy of Borders.
The Michigan Notable Books program annually selects 20 of the most notable books published in the year that are about or set in Michigan or the Great Lakes region, or are written by a native or resident of Michigan.
