Practical Information about Dietary Supplements With Clinical Pharmacist Tami Remington, PharmD

Wednesday October 19, 2011: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm -- Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

Many Americans take dietary supplements (vitamins, herbal products) to treat medical conditions or for general wellness.

This session, held in partnership with the UM Geriatrics Center, will answer some common questions people have about these supplements: Which ones really work? Some make attractive claims about amazing benefits or even cures... how can I tell legitimate products from snake oil? Is it OK to take them with my prescription medicines? Are they safe?

Tami Remington, PharmD is Clinical Pharmacist at U-M Turner Geriatric Clinic and Associate Professor at U-M College of Pharmacy. In 2004-2005, she completed a Faculty Scholars Program in Complementary and Alternative Medicine at U-M. Since then, she has advised individuals about prudent use of dietary supplements and has augmented education about dietary supplements for pharmacy students.
