An Evening with Author Nancy ShawTuesday September 9, 2008: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm -- Traverwood Branch: Program Room'Raccoon Tune,' Nancy Shaw's delightful story of a family of raccoons is the book chosen for this year's Michigan Reads! Nancy will read from the story, and then talk about the importance of early literacy and the Michigan Reads! program. Children will also have an opportunity to make a raccoon craft. Books will be for sale courtesy of Nicola's Books. Nancy Shaw is the author of the popular 'Sheep in a Jeep' and its sequels. The Michigan Reads! program seeks to highlight the importance of reading and sharing books with children, especially toddlers through early elementary, and to recognize the vital role of libraries which provide access to quality books, programs and services to children and families that lay the foundation for reading and school success. Jillian Moreno is the author of "Big Girl Knits" and "More Big Girl Knits." She was formerly marketing director with Interweave Press, and helped launch magazines like Interweave Knits, Beadwork, and Natural Home Magazine. Many of the theater exercises used for this workshop were developed for "Second City," one of the most famous improvisational theaters in the country.
