Playgroups
Monday June 24, 2013: 10:30 am to 11:30 am -- Downtown Library: Youth Story Corner

This is a time for babies up to 24 months and their grown-ups to gather and play. The Library will provide the space and a variety of toys.
Each playgroup includes 15 minutes of stories, rhymes and songs. Parents/guardians must remain with their children.

Race to Space: Building a Ship and the Basics of Orbit
Monday June 24, 2013: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Training Center

Design and fly spacecraft that are capable of trans-continental or even interplanetary travel!
Kerbal Space Program is a multi-genre game where players create their own space program. It's a Slapdash Spaceflight Sandbox, and you're in control of your nation's space program.
Participation in "Race to Space" events includes codes for Summer Game space badges and requires your attendance for the entire scheduled time.
This event is for teens (grades 6-12).
Race to Space: Mun Landing
Monday June 24, 2013: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Training Center

This session ratchets up the difficulty level with the goal of leaving Kerbal's orbit and landing on the Mun!
Kerbal Space Program is a multi-genre game where the players create their own space program. Participation in "Race to Space" events includes codes for Summer Game space badges and requires your attendance for the entire scheduled time.
This event is for teens (grades 6-12).
English as a Second Language Conversation Group

Washtenaw Literacy's ESL groups focus on speaking and listening skills for adults in an informal, relaxed setting. TOEFL preparation is also available.
Washi Tape Crafts
Monday June 24, 2013: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

Washi tape is a decorative Japanese tape used in craft projects.
We have lots of colors and patterns of tape available for you to make greeting card images and other inspired crafts. Bring an item from home to decorate, if you'd like!
This event is for youth (grade 3 and up), teens and adults.

Open templates and insert text boxes, photos, and objects. Practice using slide layouts, designs, views, transitions and understand printing options. Basic computer and mouse experience is required. Interactive Metronome and Musical Games
Tuesday June 25, 2013: 11:00 am to 11:45 am -- Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

Paul Sikorski from Michigan Peak Performance will demonstrate to parents how metronomes increase focus by learning to tune out distractions. This training can also significantly increase reading and math fluency scores.
While Paul chats with parents Steve Osburn, of Oz Music fame, will lead children in rhythm and musical games.
This event is for parents and caregivers with youth in grades K - 5.
Race to Space: Planetary Rovers

Explore the fundamentals of logic, programming and robotics design with LEGO NXT! You will build, test, and tweak your robot, then COMPETE.

Shrinky Dinks Craft Workshop!

Make jewelry, key chains, pet tags, pins, clothing buttons - the sky's the limit!
Shrinky Dinks shrink to approximately 1/3rd their original size and actually become 9 times thicker! In two magic minutes your creation gets smaller and smaller.
This event is for adults, teens and pre-teens (grade 4 and up).
Resume 101
