A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words: Paintings By U-M Faculty Women's Club
Now through June 13, 2013 -- Malletts Creek Branch: Exhibits
This exhibit features the collected works of the Painting Section of the University of Michigan's Faculty Women's Club (FWC). The exhibit covers a large variety of styles and media. The members of FWC strive to enrich the cultural life of the Ann Arbor area by raising awareness of, and by encouraging active participation in, the visual arts.
The FWC is a cross-campus organization, offering members acquaintance and fellowship. Members have been "painting" together since 1929, creating award-winning pieces in a wide variety of media, and learning from one another at weekly gatherings in their homes. Sharing experiences with new media, critiquing one another's work, and encouraging exploration in artistic expression are the basic elements of their continuing study of the visual arts as a group. Shows of their works have been displayed for the past 44 years at venues in the greater Ann Arbor area, including art fairs, art galleries, banks, churches, and libraries.

AADL-GT on the Road: All-Stars Battle Royale

Up to four players can battle each other using characters from various Sony franchises such as God of War, PaRappa the Rapper and Sly Cooper, as well as third-party franchises like BioShock!
This event is for teens (grade 6 and up) and adults.

An Introduction To Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" With Music Expert Richard LeSueur
Sunday June 9, 2013: 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm -- Malletts Creek Branch: Program Room AB
Richard LeSueur, opera lover extraordinaire, will provide a delightful introduction to Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro."
He will discuss the plot, the relationship of the characters and the music of one opera's greatest comedies. There will be recorded examples highlighting some of the great music composed Mozart and the subtle plot twists devised by librettist Lorenzo da Ponte.
This event is held in conjunction with Arbor Opera Theater's production of "The Marriage Of Figaro" at Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, June 13-16. For information about the production or Arbor Opera Theater, visit their website at arboropera.com.
