Yarn Bomb the Library: Freestyle

Saturday June 8, 2013: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm -- Pittsfield Branch: Program Room

Help complete the yarn bomb exhibit! We'll have supplies on hand for you to make fiber pieces that don't require knitting or crocheting, including pom-poms!

If you know how to knit or crochet, feel free to stitch with us! When we're finished, we'll head outside and hang our creations.

This event is for adults, teens and youth (grade K and up).

LEGO Connection

Drop in and get connected with other LEGO-minded people! All LEGOs will be provided, so you can make things and make friends!

Kids Rock Music Workshop: Songwriting The ICV Way

Meet Ice Cream Vendors in person on the afternoon of their Top Of The Park Kids Rock performance.

Ice Cream Vendors songs are all written and composed with a collaborative effort. For this workshop, ICV's Jon Kostal and Greg Barnett let you in on their unique approach to songwriting. Learn about song inspiration based on unusual everyday sources.

The workshop will also feature an interactive demonstration. You could be the inspiration for the next ICV hit!

Interactive Metronome and Musical Games

Tuesday June 25, 2013: 11:00 am to 11:45 am -- Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

Paul Sikorski from Michigan Peak Performance will demonstrate to parents how metronomes increase focus by learning to tune out distractions. This training can also significantly increase reading and math fluency scores.

While Paul chats with parents Steve Osburn, of Oz Music fame, will lead children in rhythm and musical games.

This event is for parents and caregivers with youth in grades K - 5.

This event will be repeated from 4:00 - 4:45 pm at Pittsfield Branch. It is for grades K - 5.

Kids Rock Music Workshop With The Not-Its!

Meet The Not-Its! in person on the afternoon of their Top Of The Park Kids Rock performance.

This hands-on music creation workshop will give music lovers and fans a chance to learn how The Not-Its! combine crunchy guitars with smooth, four-part harmonies, to create pop gems.

Their high-energy stage performances are guaranteed to get audiences on their feet and jumping around with delight. Their debut album, We Are The Not-Its!, took the kindie rock scene by storm, receiving a Fids & Family Music Award for one of the best family music albums of 2009. It's clear they are on a mission to make kids dance, with up-tempo, power-pop hits families love.
