Learn Python, a general purpose, high-level programming language, from brief lectures about core elements of the language coupled with interactive exercises. This first class provides an intro as well as the tools used to write and run Python scripts. Basic computer experience is required.. class handouts

At this weekly series, you'll design dangerous fortresses, awesome heroes, lugubrious villains, and unlock achievements of the comics-storytelling masters! Each week you'll have two fun drawing challenges to level up your comics-making powers and get special Summer Game codes. Come every week to collect a special series of video challenges! Become the supreme master of visual storytelling!

Sessions will be held at Malletts Creek Branch on Mondays, 6 - 8 pm, July 8 - August 12.

HTML, CSS and Javascript: The Basics

Monday July 22, 2013: 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm -- Downtown Library: Training Center

Learn how to design web pages and interactive applications using HTML, CSS and Javascript. This class will focus on understanding and writing the client-side code that web browsers process in order to display formatted content onto the screen. Topics covered include: the Document Object Model (DOM), basic HTML tags, controlling document appearance using CSS, and making interactive applications using Javascript. Participants in the class will make their own interactive application. Basic computer and mouse experience is required. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Classrooms will open 15 minutes before the class start times.

Building Web Applications with Python I

Monday July 29, 2013: 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm -- Downtown Library: Training Center

Learn how to build applications using Google App Engine.

In this class we will discuss the basics of web sites, web servers, and modern web applications. Following this discussion, we will learn how to build applications in Python using Google App Engine. By the end of the class, students will have built their first web application, and deployed it to Google's servers.

Basic computer and mouse experience is required. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Classrooms will open 15 minutes before the class start times.
