Make Your Own Drop Spindle (and Learn To Spin Yarn!)

This event is intended for adults and teens grade 6 & up

Have you ever wondered how to make yarn? Have you seen someone spinning yarn and wanted to give it a whirl? Come learn with us!

Drop spinning is an ancient craft that uses simple materials to make a spindle that spins sheep's wool or other fibers into yarn. At this event, participants will make their own drop spindle using doweling and recycled CDs and learn the basics of how to spin using their new drop spindle.

Sock Dolls Workshop

Local crafter Beth Battey shows you how to make a 3-6 inch doll from a sock (or tube of knit fabric), a needle, and some thread.

Felt Ball Fun!

Local crafter Beth Battey leads this hands-on workshop. Start with colorful wool roving, add warm water, a little soap and some patience, and you get a fun felt ball! Felt balls can be toys for kids and pets, jewelry, a garland or a fun decoration!

Dreamcatchers Craft Workshop

This event is intended for adults and teens grade 6 and up

Learn how to make your own dreamcatcher and, if you’d like, bring a treasured object to weave into it. Local crafter Dawn Henry leads this workshop. The dreamcatcher project is intricate and will likely take the entire time to complete.
