Tiny Expo: Indie Holiday Arts & Craft Fair

Saturday December 13, 2014: 11:00 am to 5:30 pm -- Downtown Library Lobby

Ann Arbor's biggest little indie arts & craft fair is back! After a few years of hopping around to different locales, Tiny Expo will land at the Downtown Library.

Just what IS Tiny Expo? It's a fun local, and handmade shopping experience that began with a small group of artists in 2010. As the initial group of creative folks banded together to hold a fun, informal little fair, expo-goers responded, and the show grew just a teeny bit each year. Finding a location that could fit everyone was a perennial challenge, though, and so Tiny Expo jumped around town — from Kerrytown to Felch Street and back again.

Join us for Tiny Expo Saturday, December 13 from 11-5:30, and see local artists and crafters selling their wares in a festive library space where you can shop local and handmade!

Classical Bells Holiday Concert

Saturday December 13, 2014: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

This event is intended for all ages.

Classical Bells returns to the Library for their annual concert. This event is very popular – so arrive early!!

Classical Bells was founded in 1983. Their handbell artistry has received national attention as a result of its five audio recordings, one acclaimed live concert video, and recordings of new handbell music for distribution by hand bell music publishers. The group’s primary instrument consists of 68 bronze plus 6 aluminum English handbells, a range of more than six octaves. In some pieces the tonal coloring is enhanced by the mellow sound of a six octave set of hand chimes.

Classical Bells is noted for bringing music to life with their unique interpretative style, a technique they call “ringing in color”™. Each concert features musical selections in a wide variety of genres – classical, jazz, inspirational, even ragtime and swing! This eclectic programming, combined with sensitive musical interpretation, technical skill, informal choreography, and a dash of humor, gives Classical Bells the well-deserved reputation of “Michigan’s Premier Handbell Ensemble”.
