Soft Molasses Cake

One cup of butter, two cups of molasses, one cup of sugar, one cup of sweet milk, two teaspoons of soda dissolved in the milk, one small teaspoon of ginger, two teaspoons of cinnamon, half a teaspoon of cloves. Rub the butter and sugar to a cream, stir in the molasses beat the eggs, and mix with the same. Stir in gradually the milk and flour, adding the spices last.
