Patron Comment: Make a separate receptacle or a way of marking DVDs that are not functional. I would return them to an actual person, but sometimes the line is too long for that.

Regarding: collections

Patron Comment: Dear Joise, I love reading and library is a very important place in my everyday life. However, it is disappointing that there were very few library materials in Chinese at AADL. For example, there are disproportionately very few Chinese books, magazines, not to mention musical CDs and DVDs, given a large Chinese community living in Ann Arbor area. I was only able to find one Chinese magazine at main library and Northeast branch. It is very difficult to find kids books in Chinese too. In contrast, there were at least twenty different Chinese magazines and a lot of Chinese books and CD/DVDs at the library of the east coast town in whihc I used to live before I moved to Ann Arbor 2 years ago. Thank you very much, All best,

AADL Reply: Thank you very much for your note. I hope that you are finding more material available in Chinese at the Library. We are working hard to add to the collection material in languages that reflect the diversity our our community and Chinese is a priority. Please let me know if we are doing better, and how we can if we are not providing material that you would like to read. Sincerely, Josie Parker Director

Regarding: programs & events

Patron Comment: Hello. I have some photos I took of China when I was there in 1985 for 2 months. I am wondering if you would like to show them in the library as you have had so many Chinese events this year. I don't know who to show the photos to to see if you think they are worthwhile. I find them interesting because of how much things have changed. I went to China two years ago to adopt my daughter and many places were unrecognizable. The people in my photos are still wearing Mao jackets! I think some people may find the photos interesting. I can select 10 or so and send them to you via email. They were slides originally that I have been scanning. I have hundreds of them. Thanks! Odette Petrini

AADL Reply: Hi Odette, I'd be happy to discuss our process for applying for an exhibit at the AADL. If you'd like to give me a call, you may reach me at 327-8327. Sincerely, Terry Soave Exhibits Committee Chair Outreach & Neighborhood Services Manager

Regarding: computer classes

Patron Comment: Hi, I am very interested in taking some computor classes. I just found out you offer them. Can you tell me after November when will the next classes start? Thank you, Regina Russell

AADL Reply: Hi Regina, Thank you for your interest in our computer classes. Registration for the next session will begin on December 15, with classes scheduled to begin the first week in January. Once the schedule is finalized it will be posted on our website at: http://www.aadl.org/services/products/computerclasschedule. The schedule that's currently posted is for the classes that are just now wrapping up, but if you take a look it will give you a good idea of the scope of the classes we offer. We will, however, be offering some new classes as well, including Web 2.0 classes on blogging, RSS feeds, MySpace, del.icio.us and Google searching. We hope you'll find what you're looking for, but if you have any suggestions, we'd be glad to hear them. Thanks again! Terry Outreach & Neighborhood Services
