Patron Comment: There’s not too much anyone can do about certain people and their behavior while here in the library. Yet my biggest complaint is the man – Leon at the table behind the computer station (rambling on) this would be the only way I can politely put it. It’s very distracting while working or reading. I’ve mentioned once before to no avail.

Patron Comment: The environment of the 2nd floor internet access terminal area continues to decline. I suggest large signs saying cell phones with loud rings will be confiscated and remind all people, but especially African Americans that greetings (hello’s and goodbyes) and updates to social life be quiet and short. Many people talk as long and as loud as they do when meeting on the street.

Patron Comment: There used to be comfortable browsing chairs in several locations. Now they are all in the back corner of the main floor. Could some be put in other locations?

AADL Reply: Thank you for contacting the Ann Arbor District Library. We appreciate your feedback about our facilities. In addition to the comfortable seating on the first floor, you will find more comfortable seating on the second and third floors. I really enjoy the cozy chairs on the second floor by the windows. Thank you for taking the time to share your suggestion. Best regards, Celeste Choate, Manager of Access and User Services

Patron Comment: Your copy machines, especially the one on the 1st floor, are the worst. Misfeeds and stuck paper almost every time. They take money off the card, give you nothing but an error message. Perhaps time to spring for better machines?

Patron Comment: This library is fantastic! The people are extremely helpful and courteous; however could you please get paper towels and/or another hand dryer in the restrooms?

Patron Comment: Hello, I am a solo musician who performs music from around the world for children and their families at private and public events. I grew up performing with my dad, a pianist and composer whose music was published by Disney and used on "Captain Kangaroo." My dad passed onto me a huge repertoire of music, from Jazz, Blues, Children's, to World. I sing in several languages and play guitar, requinto, upright bass, and several other instruments. I'm booked to play in Michigan the week of August 8, 2008, and am wondering if there might be a possibility of playing for a children's event within the Ann Arbor library system. The link to my web site is: http://betsysternkidsmusic.com/music.html Thank you very much for your consideration. Patron Comment: The new Pittsfield Branch is simply great and we go whenever possible, usually several times a week. When free, I prefer to read and write there in the morning instead of my office, and my kids love to go evenings and weekends. It has had a very positive effect on our lives. Thanks.

AADL Reply: Thank you for saying so, and I am so glad. Your note is a great gift to all of us at AADL. Josie Parker Director

Patron Comment: It would be great is the website showed new children's books on CD.

AADL Reply: Thank you for your suggestion. Currently, the AADL website does list new youth-level BOCDs. Our catalog page, www.aadl.org/catalog, you will find a list of links under the heading "Browse the Catalog". Under the subheading, "New Items" you will find link to browse New Books On CD. Youth materials are included in this list. I hope that you find this helpful. Sincerely, Sherlonya Augustine Interim Youth Services Manager

Patron Comment: Do you have book clubs?

AADL Reply: Thank you for contacting the Ann Arbor District Library. Although AADL does not offer monthly discussions, AADL does offer a book club program called "Cover to Cover" in the fall of each year. In 2006, we read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards and this fall we read "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. Also, AADL participates in the "Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Reads" program. General information is available here: http://www.aadl.org/aareads and events are listed here: http://www.aadl.org/aareads/events. If you have additional questions, please contact me.
