Patron Comment: I appreciate that the library incorporated Macs.

AADL Reply: Thank you for taking the time to express your appreciation that our new Library incorporates Macs. As OS X has matured as a stable and powerful platform, we have found new ways to utilize Apple hardware and software at the library. Rest assured that Macs have a significant role to play at AADL, and we expect to continue to expand that role as time goes on. Thanks again for your feedback, and thanks for using the Library!

Regarding: facility issue

Patron Comment: Perhaps moving down (or getting rid of) the shelving in front of the check-out desks would be useful. It's very narrow, and almost always impossible for a wheelchair. Some signage would help to clarify these desks for newcomers.

AADL Reply: Thank you for taking the time to fill out a comment card about the shelf layout at Malletts Creek near the Service Desk. I apologize if you find access to the desk difficult and I will have our Facilities measure the width of the aisle. We are committed to being ADA compliant, but shelving does get moved from time to time, so we will check. Again, thank you for letting us know how we can serve you better at the Library.

Patron Comment: It would be helpful if there was the ability to record CDs here. Occasionally, I need to download huge update files to my home machine - and this takes forever with a modem!

Patron Comment: Your login page and the request for password page should be handled on a secure connection.

AADL Reply: Thank you for taking the time to contact us about our catalog login and request for password pages. We apologize for the delay in our response. Placing these screens behind a secure connection is something we've wanted to do for years; unfortunately, it is not possible with our current catalog system, which serves those pages. Shortcomings such as these are among the reasons we have selected a new catalog and automation system. We are currently in the process of migrating to this new system, and it is planned to go live in July. This new system will offer us, among many other new features, the ability to secure the patron login screens. It will also support usernames and passwords instead of library card numbers and PINs, making login even easier. Thanks again for your feedback, and thanks for using the Library!
