Electronic Xmas submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 11:17am This album reimagines common Christmas carols (and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, which is basically part of the holiday canon at this point anyway), placing them against an electronic backdrop and achieving a balance of familiarity and surprise that is always nice to find with such frequently covered material. The instrumentation is chosen well for a smooth and soothing effect, often recalling bells and other common instruments used in the genre, and the tracks avoid some of the more common pitfalls of electronic music by keeping the focus on the melody. This is a really interesting and refreshing approach to the standard holiday fare.
