Good Interpretations of Classic Works submitted by Meginator on July 19, 2020, 12:53pm This album re-imagines some of Bach’s short keyboard works on guitar, and the results are peaceful melodic lines offering a moment of respite in today’s busy world. Bach’s style tends to feel punchy on its native instrumentation, and transcribing his compositions for guitar helps to soften them somewhat, giving them a more inviting character. The pieces are, like so much of Bach’s work, both inventive and repetitive, and you really need to pay attention to catch their nuances; a few do have memorable melodic turns of phrase that force the listener’s attention. Still, this is as good a way as any to experience Bach and it is exceptionally well-suited for calming background listening.

Different music altogether! submitted by delaflynn on August 22, 2021, 5:06pm It's amazing what a huge difference the change of instrument can make! The originals played on a huge church organ sound so serious and somber. Played on guitar the pieces seem like delicate little sweets. Sounds almost playful. Quite enchanting!
