Way More than Noise submitted by krogers on July 23, 2023, 3:26pm A prior review characterizes this download as “noise,” but I think that’s only true if one has an incredibly limited appreciation for music or if you believe something has to be slow and boring in order to count as music. This whole album is better characterized as good, catchy, high-energy rock with solid guitar work and decent vocals. I’m actually not sure exactly how I would label it – probably pop/alternative crossover – at times sort of like Glen Burtnik channeling Chrissy Hynde, at others like 80’s punk vocals but with more chord variety. Track 3 is a downbeat change of pace, but overall this is very peppy music. The lyrics are decent; not amazing songwriting, but quite good. And, I would add, the instrumentation includes very good, if not overly complicated, melodic lead guitar.
