I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTT! submitted by Claire Jiang on July 3, 2018, 5:58pm i love it !she makes it feel like Red is really talking to Bongo.

Not the best, but still a good book. submitted by graytabby on August 1, 2021, 10:33pm Read this for school, it's an OK book. Funny characters and great messages, but there could've been more personality development.

Great submitted by T R W on August 7, 2022, 11:33am The author is one of my favorites, if only because of her amazing style. It reads like a poem, and it brings out the reader's emotions. The story itself is beautiful, but for me there are two things that really stand out and draw me to the book.

One is that it is told from the perspective of a tree. That already conjures an out-of-the-box feel which makes my brain strain to wrap around it. It sets a wonderful stage for the story to come, which would actually be fairly flat (though still powerful) told from any possible other viewpoint. Hearing it from the tree makes my emotions in an already emotional story much stronger.

The other has to do with the general style. It's a quick read, if you just read the words and pay attention to the story and nothing else. But if you take your time appreciating the delivery of the story, it becomes an entirely different book. The black-and-white illustrations convey the mood well.

In conclusion? A wonderful book that everyone should read. But I highly recommend taking some time to appreciate more than just the story.
