characters balanced mixture of good and not submitted by aScheller on November 12, 2017, 3:40pm For high school popular golden success Darien, the one person to gladden his heart ("let him...breathe") is sister Nadine's only close and long-term friend (who has been eying Darien). When he finally cracks his facade to Nadine, left unsaid is, "and if you can't accept it, well, it was nice knowing you, Sister."
Unlike him, Nadine the outsider curmudgeon, except for one very bad day, turns out to take much greater care with whom she chooses to share her time. And yes, she could have sent a second text about "meant to delete instead of send", but then there would not have been the drama obliging her to move on and "get a life".
