Beautifully melancholic submitted by pamhockey25 on June 20, 2017, 5:24pm This movie, Manchester by the Sea, stays with you long after the film is over. The characters are well-drawn, and the incident that the movie revolves around is revealed slowly, over time. The acting was incredible. If you haven't seen it, you should, but be prepared, this is not your everyday movie the themes are deep and the story is unpredictable.

Unresolved... submitted by cmarie2004 on August 7, 2017, 2:51pm Normally I don't pay attention to techniques, but the color/tint of this movie matched the mood. Gray, blue, and lots of darkness. What happens is sad and depressing. Understandably so. I kept waiting for "the sun to come out" but it stayed overcast. Grief sucks, but at least the characters dealt with it the best they knew how. Just like life, you carry on and maybe one day... that's pretty much how I felt at the end: no resolution.

Not a happy movie submitted by gxtan on July 29, 2019, 12:15pm This isn't an inspirational, feel-good movie, but life isn't always sunshine and puppies. The movie jumps around in time a fair amount, but you can usually figure out what's going on. As the movie goes on, the present story is explained through these flashbacks and the characters' actions begin to make more sense. It's a story about grief, and I think the ending reflects that well.

Pretty Good submitted by jibkidder on June 18, 2022, 1:40pm You know, the name is slipping my mind, but maybe it's "Margaret" - the movie where the grown up girl from True Blood plays a hysterical teenage.. that movie is among my list favorite of celebrated "art" films ever, so it's a relief that this movie was OK in my book.
