Block printing on paper. Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese printmaker and painter who created landscapes, portraits, written texts, and illustrations. Hokusai used over 50 names for himself to identify his numerous works. His pieces reflect the Ukiyo-e school of art, which began 150 years before he was born. Ukiyo-e means pictures of the floating world and combines realistic and decorative styles. Artists in this tradition began with screen painting, but as Hokusai did, also also adopted multicolor block printing.

ok submitted by .-.-.-. on July 29, 2019, 7:25pm Interesting color choice, and good details, but just doesn't appeal. Doesn't feel calm enough. 3/5 stars.
