Originally published in single magazine form as Deadly class #1-6.
Change the world with a bullet. It's 1987 and homeless teenager Marcus Lopez Arguello has no reason to keep living. Until one fateful evening he is approached by a mysterious girl who invites him to join Kings Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts, a brutal, clandestine high school, where the world's top crime families send the next generation of assassins to be trained. Murder is an art, killing is a craft and the dagger in your back is no metaphor.

1987. A California street kid is recruited to attend a special secret high school for assassins. He's lonely and depressed and caught between the hell that is high school and the hell that is street life. But at least Assassin High will one day give him the chance to kill Ronald Reagan, whom he blames for his parents' deaths.
Deadly Class is Remender's ode to the universal shittiness of high school. The desperation to belong, the cliques, the cruelty, the backstabbing, the ubiquitous posing...all that is presented alongside shootings and stabbings, vicious beatings, a few murders, and classes about poison. I like the parallels there, whether they were intended or not. High school sucked.
Okay submitted by zora on July 28, 2019, 4:47pm This book is really hard to follow at first. The book is really fast paced and likes to jump around a lot. I would not have picked this book up unless I had been recommended it because the artwork is not my favorite. However I liked it more than I though I was going to. The story is weird and annoying at times and there are many other graphic novels I would pick up before this, but overall I do think this is a good fast read if you are looking for something to fill up your time.
Embrace the Soap Opera submitted by jmwink_ on July 29, 2019, 10:03am At first, Deadly Class tries to get you with a story that promises it is NOT just another teen drama. But the fact of the matter is, Deadly Class is at its best when it embraces that it kind of is. The strongest elements are about the characters just trying to navigate cliques and friendships and how to be high schoolers. The violence is at its best when it is contributing to the story and isn't just gratuitous. The art style isn't for everyone but I liked it. Overall, I thought it was really fun and enjoyable, and went through the first seven volumes very quickly.
